Divorce happens… we can help.

When starting a business, one of the most important and difficult jobs is often finding your target audience. At Moov Consultants we have a “Say Yes!” attitude and so it has made our search for our target audience a little more difficult in some ways and much easier in others. The Come One, Come All approach has kept us busy with a variety of new clients. It’s part of what makes our job so much fun, we truly aren’t sure where the next inquiry will come from.

However, a few of our most recent clients have helped us open our eyes and narrow our focus to recently divorced men and women. Divorce happens…good or bad, it’s simply sometimes unavoidable. Regardless of the outcome, a  family or a couple are typically going from one house to two. Temporary or permanent, in most cases, someone is moving out and finding a new place to live. This transition is often overwhelming and here’s where we can help.

We understand that the time soon after a divorce—when people are trying to establish a new life in a place of vulnerability—moving, packing, unpacking, buying furniture, and styling a home is often simply too overwhelming to comprehend. Questions are often discussed and agreed upon during mediation, but who is carrying out the ACTION and when?

The importance of feeling settled in a comfortable space and, in some cases, establishing a new normal for children post-divorce is critical. We can help bring a sense of style and function to a home. We often work side-by-side with the moving company to unpack and set up the entire home.

We specialize in interior decorating services that bring together the home— from stocking the kitchen and baths with necessary items to creating sensible floor plans and layouts. We suggest paint colors, upgrades, lighting, and furniture options working within all budgets. Our clients are typically settled in and ready to continue life within a day or two!

Our goal is to help create beautiful, livable spaces where life can start fresh while keeping the process affordable. If you find yourself needing help in putting all the pieces together. Please, give us a call. You won’t regret it….guaranteed!

The following pictures are a great example of a client who simply did not have time to focus on creating a beautul home. As a business owner, father, ex-husband, and outdoor enthusist…there were many more things to worry about than pillows and chairs. He knew he wanted a nice place, but life just got in the way. We were able to deal with the things that he definitely appreciated, but let’s get real… there are only so many hours in each day. Check it out:

From Madness to Happiness

We are thrilled to announce that the mudroom project is complete! And wow, what a difference a fresh coat of paint, inexpensive carpet from Home Depot, and a bench made from scrap lumber and a clearance rack fabric can make. It’s really fun to bring new life into spaces that are an integral part of your every day. It’s so easy to walk past the pile of bags that desperately needs to be dropped off at Good Will or add one more jacket to the crowded coat rack. But with a little bit of effort, any room can be transformed. And believe it or not, walking into an organized clean space truly does make a difference in one’s overall emotional balance.

We’re pretty good at this. Invite us over and we can brainstorm ideas together. Sometimes all you need is a new vision. We’d love to help you fall in love with your home all over again. Check out some of the before, during, and after photos:

Nestled between the mountains: a vacation home in the Mad River Valley

It may be the dog days of summer, but there’s still a lot of moovement here in the Green Mountain state. Today we ventured to Waitsfield, which is a quintessential Vermont town in the Mad River Valley—an area known for world-class outdoor recreation, eclectic energy, and all the farm-to-table cuisine (and beer!) that our state is known for. While this is an area with a lively year-round population, Waitsfield is also a prized location for vacation homes—which is what brought Moov to the Valley today.

After searching for years, our new clients, have finally found their home away from home in the woods of Vermont, and they’ve partnered with Moov to help make it feel that way. Their new mountain house is nestled into a wooded lot with postcard-worthy mountain views. This space will become their haven—a place to escape the fast-paced, city living that is their current everyday life. It will be a place to relax and enjoy their friends, family, and of course, the great outdoors.

While the family looks forward to many long weekends and vacations spent here, Moov is looking forward to creating a welcoming and cozy space for them. From top to bottom, room to room, no detail will be overlooked:

  • We’ll start big with refinishing the floors, painting the walls, and contracting out repairs.
  • We’ll select furniture, lighting, and artwork.
  • We’ll bring in elements of nature, to reflect the beauty that surrounds them, while implementing all the unique features of the home as focal points. The use of hardwood, hand-hewn beams, stone and metal will help guide the decisions used for the interior decorating.
  • We’ll even make the beds with fine linens for their arrival.
  • And last but not least, we’ll make sure they are stocked with the makings for the perfect gin and tonic to savor the last sips of summer. That’s how we say, welcome home!

This is the exact kind of project that we love to do here at Moov—taking the stress out of moving and helping folks truly feel at home.

Staging your home with Moov: how we’ll get your house ready for market

One of the key steps in selling your home is getting it staged—the process of rearranging or tidying your home to entice potential buyers. This comes naturally for some, but for others it can be downright overwhelming and time consuming. Sometimes all it takes is having another person coming in with fresh eyes and a single focus—that’s where Moov can help.

We work like a modern-day Mary Poppins: moving room to room, making changes here and there, adding essential items, hiding wires, opening blinds. We know that if we can stage your home so that others are able to easily imagine themselves living in your space, your home is one step closer to being sold. If potential buyers aren’t distracted by your belongings, then they are better able to imagine themselves settling in and creating the home they’ve always dreamed of.

This process recently came to life in Richmond, Vermont – the community we call home! Robin, our client, was trying to sell her house. She had worked tirelessly painting, cleaning, and packing her family’s belongings for their big move. The For Sale by Owner sign was ready to be placed in the front yard and the photographer was scheduled to take photos for the online listing.

We met with Robin a few days prior to the photographer’s appointment to get a full understanding of her needs. Together we created a plan that worked for her schedule and her family, and we were able to stage her home efficiently and stylishly.

“Marlene and Claire were a huge help in staging my home,” says Robin. “As an owner selling my property, I needed direction about how to get it ready to sell. They talked with me about the process and developed a plan with me. Their kind, fun, direct style gets it all done without stress! They used some of what I had to decorate the house and brought in beautiful items to complement it all—and it sold within the week! I couldn’t have done it without Moov!”
